Officials, Law Enforcement Mourn Sheriff Downing

Honor guard, troopers, colleagues mourn the loss of the Rockingham County Sheriff, long-time public servant.

Members of law enforcement community, other officials, as well as friends and family, all came together on April 23, 2015, in Windham, to mourn the loss of Rockingham County Sheriff Michael Downing, who passed away last week at the age of 60, after a bout with cancer.

A funeral was held this morning at St. Matthew Parish in Windham after a visitation yesterday.

Downing served in the 82nd Airborne, was a New Hampshire State Trooper, a detective with the Salem Police Department, a former state Senator, and had been sheriff since 2010. He left behind a wife, five children, six grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
