Raymond 2nd-Grader Makes Threat To Hurt Others

Police and school officials are investigating after a second-grader in Raymond drew a map of the school and threatened to do harm this week.

RAYMOND, NH — Police and school officials are investigating after a second-grader drew a map of the school and threatened to do harm during an after-school program in Raymond this week. Superintendent Tina McCoy said school administrators learned about the threat Thursday morning. She said the student who reportedly made the threat was a second-grade boy enrolled in the Learning Enrichment After School Program, and grant-funded program at the Lamprey River Elementary School.

School Principal Dorothy Franchini, who was serving as acting principal on Thursday, immediately reported the incident to School Resource Officer Sue Frotton, and the Raymond Police Department launched an investigation, school officials say. School staff conducted a search of the school in accordance with their emergency operations plan, and no weapons or firearms were found.

Classes at the school were not disrupted as a result of this incident. School officials and police do not believe there is any danger to the school community. The student who reportedly made the threat was removed from the classroom as officials conduct their investigation.
