Unitil to Help Exeter Keep Holiday Lights On
The Dec. 3 holiday parade could be a bit darker this year due to aging, fraying utility wires that were a concern to the utility company.

EXETER, NH — This year’s annual holiday parade scheduled for Dec. 3, may not be as colorful as normal unless town officials and Unitil can coordinate a possible solution to aging, fraying wires that are of a concern to the town’s electric utility company, according to Fox25 News. This year, volunteers began to prepare to wrap utility poles in lights and string branches on some of the town’s streets for the parade.
However, Unitil told officials this month that the wiring on the poles were “aged and fraying” making the presence of lights “too dangerous.” Beth Dupell, the parade committee’s registrations and logistics manager, told town officials on Monday that the lights wouldn’t be happening this year. However, Alec O’Meara of Unitil later informed the org and officials that the company would attempt to work with the town to put together emergency repairs for a temporary fix to the problem.
