Bomb Threat In New Hampshire Was Made By Boy In Texas: Police

Seabrook cops say an unspecified bomb threat was made by a tween using an app in Allen, TX. Other towns may have received the threat, too.

SEABROOK, NH — Police investigating a bomb threat in a Seacoast community have traced the unspecified threat to a child in Texas. The Seabrook Police Department spent a good part of Thursday searching for a device after receiving a phone call claiming a bomb had been placed "in room 206 on the second floor." No other information was given to police before the call disconnected, according to police.

Officers went to schools in Seabrook, as a precaution, but were unable to locate any evidence of a threat. Businesses around town with rooms with 206 were also checked. Information was also passed onto the Hampton police and state troopers.

"While there is no evidence indicating that this was a valid threat, we will continue to investigate this incident with the utmost priority," noted Chief Brett Walker in a post on Facebook while detectives also requested tips to the Hampton Crimeline.

At 7 p.m. Thursday, police reported the threat was traced to Allen, Texas. Police there were able to confirm the threat was made by a 12-year-old boy in that community.

"The child and his family are cooperating with police and the child admitted that there was no bomb," police stated in a Facebook update. "The call was placed using an app and detectives are determining if more calls of a similar nature were made."

Police remind parents to monitor what children do online.

"While incidents like this may be amusing to children they create a substantial risk to the public and to first responders investigating the matters," police said.
