Kathleen Lahey, the late chief's sister, said Wednesday's awards night is a "wonderful way to represent what Michael brought to the community."
He "never was the star of the show," and for him to be front and center on a night honoring selflessness is "the coolest thing to see," according to Lahey.
"I see a little bit of Mike in all of them," said Lahey of the award winners, which include Hampton firefighters Jed Carpentier and Kyle Jameson.
