KINGSTON, NH — A gender reveal party in Kingston went up in smoke Tuesday, sending a shock through southern New Hampshire and into Massachusetts, local news sources report.
The blast, reportedly caused by the ignition of several pounds of highly explosive Tannerite, was felt by residents as far as 20 miles away from the Torromeo Industries quarry, The New Hampshire Union Leader reports.
Residents as far north as Epping and as far south as the Merrimack Valley reported hearing a bang or "deep rumble," sources report.

One neighbor told NBC 10 Boston the blast cracked the foundations of nearby homes.
Officials told the news station investigators are working to identify the full extent of the damage and that charges are possible.

Police told the Union Leader the explosion did confirm one thing: a baby boy is on the way.
Investigators said blue chalk powder covered the ground at the quarry.
Gender reveals led to two deaths in New York and Michigan in February, and at least two deaths in 2020. They have also sparked wildfires in the United States and Australia, costing several millions of dollars in damage.
