Hampton Beach Part Of NH's Campsite Lottery Pilot Program

Two state parks including Hampton Beach are part of NH's campsite lottery pilot program for reserving next year's campsites.

HAMPTON, NH — Hampton Beach State Park is one of two New Hampshire state parks chosen for the state's campsite lottery pilot program. The program implements a lottery to reserve campsites for the 2020 season. Applications for the lottery opened Monday and will be accepted through Oct. 11.

According to New Hampshire State Parks, the purpose of the lottery program is to ensure greater opportunity for campers to experience the state's most popular camping areas. Lottery applications include five campsites at Hampton Beach State Park and five at Ellacoya State Park in Gilford. NH State Parks will choose lottery winners at random.

There is a $5 non-refundable fee for each application. Although one person may apply several times, the same person cannot win more than once, NH State Parks officials stated. Applications will be accepted until 8 p.m. Oct. 11 and winners will be announced in November.
