​Hampton​ Org Wins Environmental Champion Award

Friends of Bicentennial Park recently won the nonprofit category award during fourth annual awards sponsored by the Aquarion Water Company.

HAMPTON, NH — The Aquarion Water Company recently presented its Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards during a ceremony held at the Seashell Pavilion on Hampton Beach, according to a press statement. The awards, now in its fourth year, celebrates the dedication and hard work of individuals and organizations whose volunteer efforts promote conservation and preservation of natural resources in New Hampshire. In Partnership with the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation, the Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards were presented to four winners in categories including business, non-profit, adult and student.

  • Business: Waste Management of New Hampshire (Rochester)
  • Non-profit: Friends of Bicentennial Park (Hampton)
  • Adult: Les Mills, Newfound Lake Region Association (Hebron)
  • Student: Colin Canton, Groveton High School (Groveton)

“The Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards give us an opportunity to recognize and show our appreciation for the great work that is being done by organizations and individuals to help preserve and protect natural resources,” said John Walsh, Vice President of Operations for Aquarion Water Company. “We are proud to celebrate this year’s Environmental Champion Award winners and all of their accomplishments.”
The Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards are presented to individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to environmental conservation and stewardship through volunteer projects around New Hampshire.

Immediately following the award ceremony, award recipients, volunteers and special guests supported the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation through an annual beach cleanup. In total, more than 17 pounds of waste were removed from Hampton Beach.

“It is events like the Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards that help to bring people together for a greater cause, and give us all a better understanding about what it means to be an environmental champion,” said Jen Kennedy, Executive Director of Blue Ocean Society. “We appreciate the hard work put in by award winners and volunteers that came together to help keep Hampton Beach clean.”
