Sullivan said it was a "pleasure" to name Hobbs to the role, due to his more than two-decade experience with the department.

"During his career, he has held positions as a patrol officer, use of force instructor, school resource officer, and was also a member of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team," Sullivan said. "Deputy Chief Hobbs was promoted to sergeant in 2007 and served in the patrol division until his appointment as deputy chief, second in command of the Department in November 2014."

Hibbs attended Framingham State College and earned his Master's at SNHU. He is a Marine Corps veteran — serving in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle, and a husband and father.
