Manchester Man Accused Of Rioting During Hampton Beach Incident
Hampton police were faced with hundreds engaging in "unruly behavior" which included drug and alcohol use in June.

HAMPTON, NH — Hampton police after investigating a June 20 incident involving hundreds of individuals have made an arrest. Police said the crowd, about 300 to 400, gathered in the area of the Hampton Seashell Stage Complex and continued to grow and engage in “unruly behavior” which included drug and alcohol use.
Hampton police announced in a press release they have arrested Monytoung Maker, 23, of Manchester, on a charge of riot stemming from an incident at Hampton Beach on June 20.
On Sunday, July 26, police issued a warrant for Maker’s arrest. He was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8 p.m. in the area of Ocean Boulevard and F Street. He is charged with riot, a Class A misdemeanor, for “engaging in tumultuous or violent behavior and creating a substantial risk of public alarm,” according to a press release issued by Hampton police Monday.

In an effort to disperse the group, the Hampton police and law enforcement partners gathered to the south of the group and were eventually able to disperse them, police said. Police said they identified a number of those involved and identified Maker as the primary instigator of the incident.

Maker was released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Hampton District Court.
