New Bathhouses Added To Jenness Beach In Rye

RYE, NH — Jenness Beach now features new bathhouses that aim to make beachgoers' experience more enjoyable. The bathhouses have more amenities such as exterior changing rooms, a rinse-off shower and a family bathroom. New Hampshire Parks and Recreation Department will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the bathhouses on Friday.

The design of the new bathhouses is similar to the style of facilities at Hampton Beach and North Hampton Beach. The Jenness Beach bathhouses are situated approximately in the same location as the previous bathhouse, which was built in 1980, according to the Parks and Recreation Department.

The goal behind the new bathhouses is to expand the overall visitor experience and recreational value of those who visit the beach.

"This is a great example of how strategic investments from the capitol budget complement our operationally self-funded park system," said New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Commissioner Sarah Stewart. "Improving our facilities enhances visitor experiences which directly correlate to the success of our outdoor recreation economy."

Jenness Beach, located at 2280 Ocean Boulevard, is open through Oct. 31, with lifeguards on duty from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. through Aug. 28. Metered parking hours are 8 a.m. to midnight. The new bathhouses are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
