HAMPTON, NH — A Seabrook felon was arrested on weapon and conduct charges after being accused by police of firing a gun on a public street in Hampton after an argument on Wednesday.

At just past midnight, officers were sent to L Street for a shots fired call. When they arrived, they learned there was a verbal altercation between two people, and one, a man, shot a round from a pistol in the middle of the street, according to Lt. Alex Reno of the Hampton Police Department.

"A description of the man was put out to responding officers," he said. "Seconds later, a responding officer located a man matching the description as he was walking north on Ocean Boulevard near I Street."

The man, Timothy Heald, 43, of Seabrook was taken into custody based on an investigation of the incident — including "evidence of the crime that had been disposed of inside of a nearby vending machine," Reno said. He was also accused of being in possession of a knife.

Heald was charged with reckless conduct, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, and falsifying physical evidence charges, all felonies. He was held on a "no bail" status and is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday in Rockingham County Superior Court.
