HAMPTON, NH — State Police have announced that they will be conducting special patrols in the Hampton area this week, targeting impaired drivers. The patrols will be conducted by State Police and the Hampton and Seabrook police departments. These patrols will take place throughout the southern Rockingham County, according to the State Police.

"This initiative is designed to combat the on-going issue of impaired driving," according to a statement from State Police Troop A. "Although State and local police work tirelessly against this issue on a daily and nightly basis, the project will allow a larger contingency of officers and Troopers to focus solely on the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers."

State Police added that the problem of impaired driving is a preventable one.
