State Police New Year's Day Mobile Enforcement Leads To 9 Arrests

Nashua, Salem, Seabrook, and other residents charged after state troopers stop 182 vehicles on Interstate 95, Route 16, Route 101 Wednesday.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire State Police's Special and Mobile enforcement units worked the early morning hours of New Year's Day on the Seacoast as part of an effort to reduce highway crashes in the state on the holiday. The effort, which ran from 4 a.m. to noon, on Interstate 95, Route 101, and Route 16, led to 182 vehicle stops and nine arrests, according to state police. Renee Schneider, 22 of Nashua, and Erika Grand, 22 of Strafford, were arrested on driving while intoxicated charges.

Two other drivers, Ethen Lawrence, 20, of Barrington, and Timothy Holmes, 28, of Manchester, face reckless operation charges.

Jenna Fogg, 34 of Seabrook, was arrested on operating after suspension, driving without giving proof, and driving with suspended registration charges while Corey Jones, 35, of Manchester, was also charged with operating after suspension.

Two teens, Afsheen Zarrin, 18 of Salem, and Nyha Washington, 18 of Springfield, MA, face minor in possession of alcohol charges.

"The NH State Police regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive and impaired driving behaviors," noted Capt. Christopher Vitter of Troop A. "Troopers patrol across the state often utilizing the state police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire’s roadways safe for all residents and visitors."
