HAMPTON, NH — A Seacoast SWAT team took a local teen into custody on Tuesday on charges after a shooting investigation that began more than two months ago.

Just before 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 9, police received a report from a resident about a shooting in the area of Cuttler Avenue around 4:15 a.m. Investigators, according to Deputy Chief Alex Reno of the Hampton Police Department, were able to determine a single shot was fired into an occupied vehicle. Police also developed a suspect — Jakob Parkinson, 19, of Hampton. Reno said evidence recovered during the investigation, along with witness accounts, led to Parkinson being eyed as a suspect.

"The vehicle sped from the area and no injuries were reported," Reno said. "Investigators were able to develop probable cause for the application of an arrest warrant for Parkinson. The victims were also later identified and found to be unharmed during the shooting."

Hampton police activated the Seacoast Emergency Response Team and members executed a "high-risk arrest warrant" on Church Street on Tuesday to arrest Parkinson. He was charged with felony reckless conduct and unauthorized use of firearms. The firearm used during the shooting, Reno said, was also recovered by police.

Parkinson was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned at a later date in Rockingham County Superior Court.
