Water Boil Order Lifted In Hampton, North Hampton, Rye
The Aquarion Water Company has reported that its water in Hampton, North Hampton and Rye is now safe to drink. The boil order is lifted.
HAMPTON, NH — Local residents no longer need to boil their water before drinking it. The boil order issued by Aquarion Water Company this week has been lifted. E. coli bacteria is no longer a threat to those who drink the water without boiling it, according to Aquarion. The order had been in effect for water users in Hampton, North Hampton and Rye.
The water company issued a boil order on Friday, after the E. coli bacteria were found in samples collected on Wednesday. Company officials told residents to boil their water for two minutes to kill the bacteria before drinking the water, doing dishes, preparing food or making ice with it. But the samples collected on Friday and Saturday determined that "our water is bacteria free," Aquarion officials have announced.
The boil order was lifted on Sunday, according to Hampton town officials
