Woman Killed, 6 Hurt In I-95 Crash In Hampton Falls: Police

NH State Police said a driver stopped in the middle of Interstate 95 in Hampton Falls, causing a chain-reaction crash.

HAMPTON FALLS, NH — A woman was killed on Interstate 95 in Hampton Falls Sunday night after police said she stopped in the middle of the highway, causing a chain-reaction crash involving three other vehicles. The woman was identified as Siow Chang, 56, of Falmouth, Maine. Six other people were hurt in the crash; all were expected to survive, according to New Hampshire State Police Sergeant Steven Wheeler.

Wheeler said Chang, driving a Honda CR-V sport utility vehicle, stopped in the middle of the northbound side of the highway at about 7:50 p.m. for an "unknown reason." A man driving a Toyota Tacoma truck was unable to avoid Chang and slammed into her CR-V, launching the CR-V across the median into the southbound side of the highway, Wheeler said. At that point, Chang's CR-V was struck by a Ford Transit van driven by a woman and the cargo can struck a Ford Escape sport utility vehicle driven by an elderly man, Wheeler said. There were two occupants in each of the three vehicle. Chang was the sole occupant of her vehicle.

The occupants of the Tacoma were identified as a 67-year-old man and 66-year-old woman from Morrill, Maine. The occupants of the Transit were identified as a 34-year-old woman from Stoneham, Massachusetts, and a 26-year-old man from Revere, Massachusetts. The occupants of the Escape were identified as an 82-year-old man and woman from Seabrook. All were transported to Seacoast-area hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
