Calling Hours Held Wednesday Deirdre Dunlea

Londonderry woman perished in a snowmobile accident in Pembroke on Saturday.

Deirdre R. Dunlea, 58, of Londonderry, died Saturday, March 7, in Pembroke, from injuries sustained in a snowmobiling accident, according press reports and her obituary.

She was born in Boston, MA on October 29, 1956, the daughter of Beverly M. (Merrill) and the late George Hewitt. Deirdre attended Northern Essex Community College before receiving her Associate’s Degree in Radiology from Salem State University. She was employed as an X-ray Technician for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua.

On Saturday, Deirdre’s wish was to spend the day snowmobiling with her family. While snowmobiling with her husband Dan and son Shawn in Bear Brook State Park in Pembroke, NH, Deirdre was coming around a corner where she went off the trail, hit a tree and died instantly.

She is survived by her husband Daniel J. Dunlea, two sons, Justin and Shawn Dunlea, her mother, Beverly Hewitt of Reading, MA, one sister, Cheri Lombardi of W. Warwick, RI, one brother, George Hewitt Jr. of Oregon and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 11, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry with a Funeral service to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Following services, all are invited to join the family at a reception at 6:30 p.m. at The Executive Court, 1199 South Mammoth Rd., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to brain trauma research.
