Snowfest Nets $30K+ For Abused, Neglected Children

On Friday Feb. 6, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire enjoyed a wonderful day on the slopes for its 15th annual Snowfest event at Loon Mountain. Thanks to a healthy dose of help from Mother Nature recently, conditions were great. It was a fun day supporting the children and raising funds and awareness for CASA of NH.

Snowfest is one of CASA’s largest annual fundraising events, netting approximately $32,000, this year. Since its inception, Snowfest has raised more than $200,000 dollars to support the advocacy work CASA does in the New Hampshire family courts on behalf of the state’s abused and neglected children.

Sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Snowfest participants hit the slopes for a round of nine holes of mountainside golf or simply to make fresh tracks on new snow. Lunch provided by the Common Man and an après ski party complete with a silent and live auction, raffles and giveaways rounded out the day. Lucky raffle winners took home a pair of Rossignol skis and bindings, snow shoes and Red Sox Tickets among other prizes. Top auction bidders received a Gold Pass – an all access pass to Loon, Sunday River and Sugarloaf for the 2015-16 ski season – a football autographed by New England Patriot Vince Wilfork and a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol courtesy of Sen. Snowfest would not be possible without all of its sponsors, especially Loon Mountain who donates 100 percent of the day’s proceeds to CASA of NH. In addition to the fundraising aspect of Snowfest, it also serves as an appreciation day for CASA volunteers who are invited to spend the day taking advantage of Loon’s many winter amenities for free. For 25 years CASA has strived to protect the right of our states most vulnerable children to live learn and grow in the embrace of a loving family. CASA of NH recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children in the New Hampshire court system. In 2014, more than 400 volunteer advocates gave more than 1,000 abused or neglected children a voice in court.
