Dale Holloway Sentenced To Prison For An Assault On His Lawyer

Dale Holloway is accused of a shooting at a Pelham church. He pleads guilty to brutally attacking his lawyer Michael Davidow.

MANCHESTER, NH - Dale Holloway, 39 who was accused of the brutal attack against his defense attorney Michael Davidow appeared in Hillsborough County Superior Court. Holloway plead guilty to the charge of first-degree assault and appeared in front of Superior Court Judge Diane Nicolosi for sentencing.

During the sentencing hearing, Attorney Michael Davidow gave a victim impact statement in court, as well as his wife. Davidow said, “I thought I was going to die”. His wife shared how horrified she was when getting notified her husband had been assaulted at the Valley Street Jail. She told how she rushed to the Elliot Hospital where her seriously injured husband was receiving care. Davidow asked the judge to impose the maximum sentence and said this was an attack on him and the criminal justice system.

Davidow had been meeting in a private secure area of the jail with his client. Holloway who he was representing in a Pelham church shooting. Holloway who was handcuffed shook the hand of Davidow, and shortly after that handshake, Holloway began to attack his lawyer. Holloway struck Davidow multiple times

Davidow suffered severe head injuries including a brain bleed and a broken nose in the attack, was transported to the Elliot Hospital where he was in the Intensive Care Unit.

Corrections Officers became aware of the assault after Holloway tapped on a window to get an officer’s attention.

Prosecutor Brian Nicholas Greklek-McKeon, asked for the maximum sentence. Greklek-McKeon pointed out he was twice in prison in Massachusetts for assaults and was on parole when he attacked Davidow.

Attorney Brian Lee represented Holloway for the sentencing. asked to not sentence him to the maximum penalty. He spoke about how Holloway grew up with violence, was assaulted by his father, and his friend at 9 years old was killed. In the sixth grade, he was hit by a stray bullet and later in life he was beaten so badly he needed 500 stitches and lost the sight in his right eye.

Lee said when the guards arrived, the first thing Holloway said is, “I’m sorry.” He said if Holloway wanted to kill him he could have kept going, but chose to stop.

Holloway spoke in court and apologized to Davidow and asked the court to impose a lighter sentence. Holloway said he wants to be able to get out and get his family back together.

Superior Court Judge Diane Nicolosi said she had gotten to know Holloway as he has been representing himself. She pointed to his past violence, and sentences in prison that did not seem to rehabilitate him or deter him from re-offending.

Holloway was seated to 7 1/2 and 15 years in the NH State Prison. He has been in the Valley Street Jail for 584 days that will be credited as time served and deducted from his sentence.

As the sentence was handed down Holloway's eyes glassed over and he was emotional. After the sentencing was complete he spoke to his Cousin in the courtroom gallery as Sheriffs took him from the court to transport him to the NH State Prison.

Holloway is still facing charges in the Pelham case. The shooting took place on Oct. 12, 2019, at the New England Pentecostal Ministries church. Holloway is charged with the attempted murder of Bishop Stanley Choate, 75, second-degree assault for recklessly causing injury to the bride Claire McMullen, 60, who was shot in the arm, and simple assault for striking the groom, Mark Castiglione, 60, in the head with a firearm, among other charges.

The wedding took place the same day and place as the funeral for Luis Garcia, 60, of Londonderry, Holloway’s stepfather, who died Oct. 1 at his home after being shot in the neck. Brandon Castiglione, 24, of Londonderry is accused of second-degree murder in Garcia’s death. Castiglione is Mark Castiglione’s son.
