Derry artist John-Paul Zarba to Exhibit in NYC

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Derry artist John-Paul Zarba in Forms and Formalities.

The paintings of native New Hampshire artist John-Paul Zarba are bold and high-concept. Many pieces center around the idea of freedom, a theme close to Zarba's heart inspired by his time in Saudi Arabia. Zarba doesn’t stick to one technique, instead preferring to adapt his painting method to whatever impression he seeks to convey. “As an artist, I have found that what I use to conceive the thought I see behind my eyes is not as important as the message I am speaking,” Zarba states. This willingness to explore new techniques gives Zarba’s paintings a sense of freshness and spontaneity. He finds inspiration everywhere and always has a notebook or scrap of paper handy to sketch out ideas.

A civil engineer by trade, Zarba quit his job to pursue his passion for art. He says his truest aspiration is for his work to inspire others. “Art has connected many dots in my life. The pieces I create and journey I am on should serve as a testament to the possibilities of hard work and a true understanding of investigating who you are and why you are here.”

About the Exhibition

Forms and Formalities: A New Exhibition at Agora Gallery

Artists of all walks of life come together in the exhibition Forms and Formalities to express their inner visions, personal stories, and hopes and dreams for the future. Ranging from the highly representational to the highly abstract, the works on display encompass a great collection of exciting colors and motions. With an expert hand, these artists exercise their talents with intoxicating results. As clear subjects emerge from a haze of abstraction and emotion, we explore what we can see in art, how we come to these interpretations, and why we identify with them.
