Granite YMCA Holds April Vacation Camps for Kids

From the Granite YMCA: Children throughout New Hampshire can enjoy a variety of exciting spring vacation camps in late April, thanks to The Granite YMCA.

“Our daily mission is to help children live a healthier lifestyle,” said John Harris, President and CEO of The Granite YMCA. “The Y’s April Vacation Camps provides a terrific environment where they learn life-long healthy habits.”

“With school out during April vacation, many kids don’t get enough physical activity or learning,” said Mr. Harris, “In our vacation camps, kids are in a safe environment with nurturing adults where they feel welcome, develop character and explore new talents and interests to reach their potential.”

Vacation camp is for students in kindergarten through eighth grade, depending on the camp. Led by YMCA School Age Child Care professionals, the staff at The Granite YMCA have experience working with children, are trained in CPR, First Aid and additional child safety courses.

All vacation camps at The Granite YMCA will run Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 29. Pre-registration is required.

• YMCA of Downtown Manchester will be offering a week of traditional camp with daily theme-based activities for the day such as: Secret Spy, Be a Chef, Be a Scientist, and much more. At Sport-A- Day camp, children will participate in a different sport each day like floor hockey, basketball, and soccer. • YMCA of Greater Londonderry will be offering a week of “Vacation Awaits” activities including crafts, games, sports cooking projects and much more! April Trip camp includes adventures to Fenway Park, Seacoast Science Center, Patriots Place and Hilltop Fun Center. At Specialty Camp, kids will spend their week playing a variety of different sports. • YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown will be offering recreational camp, which includes a different theme each day such as: Minute to Win it, Sports of All Sorts, Science Lab, Create It, and Fort Building. April Trip Camp features adventures to Fenway Park, Seacoast Science Center, Patriots Place, and Hilltop Fun Center. • YMCA of Strafford County (Rochester) will be offering vacation camp at the YMCA and at Horne Street School in Dover. Children will travel to the Seacoast Gymnastics Center or the Franklin Park Zoo; spend the day at Camp Coney Pine, and enjoy a visit from Sylvan Learning Center. Children will have the chance to participate in team challenges, try the low ropes course, swim, and more.
