Homecoming Harvest Pumpkin Ale Returns

Able Ebenezer Brewery says the popular drink, which features pumpkins from Sunnycrest Farm in Londonderry, will return on Oct. 17.

The Able Ebenezer Brewing Company is eager to announce the return of their local harvest pumpkin ale, Homecoming, just in time for fall. On Saturday, Oct. 17, according to a press release, the brewery will be celebrating the autumn harvest with the tapping of Homecoming in Able Ebenezer’s own Ale Room at 31 Columbia Circle in Merrimack.

Homecoming is made with all locally grown pumpkins from Sunnycrest Farm in Londonderry. Sugar pumpkins are harvested at the end of September; 240lbs of which go into each 300-gallon batch. With the help of Hooksett’s own New England’s Tap House Grille, they are roasted by the Able Ebenezer team, then added to the brewing process to create this 6 percent ABV ale.

“Yes, a bevy of pumpkin ales have already come out; some as early as late July, which is easy to do in this age of artificial flavorings,” says Mike Frizzelle, Head Brewer at Able Ebenezer. “But we wanted this beer to represent home. Here in New Hampshire, the pumpkin harvest doesn’t begin until the end of September. Thus, we consider this beer to be a true seasonal; where the ingredients are only available once during the year. Being able to partner with fellow local businesses to brew with this year’s harvest not only makes for a good story; it produces a superior quality beer. Homecoming is well worth the wait.”

The brewery also plans to distribute the ale to select local restaurants, where it will be featured on draft.

The Able Ebenezer Brewing Company, the veteran-owned & operated brewery voted “Best in NH” for 2015, first opened its doors on June 14, 2014, and has since grown across the Merrimack River Valley. A rare self-distributing brewery, their ales are now poured at over 50 local restaurants, as well as right at the source in their on-site Ale Room, which is open to the public daily for flights, pints, growler fills and tours.
