Laliberte Named School Superintendent in Londonderry

Assistant superintendent will replace Nate Greenberg who will retire at the end of the current school year.

LONDONDERRY, NH — To ensure the continued success of the Londonderry School district, as well as a smooth transition of leadership, the Londonderry School Board unanimously voted to promote Assistant Superintendent Scott Laliberte to replace retiring Superintendent Nate Greenberg following the current school year, according to a press statement. Board members cited Laliberte’s contributions to Londonderry in the last two years and his experience and leadership in curriculum development for all students as primary reasons to support his promotion.

“Scott has a clear focus on student success, and he is considered a leader in the field of public education, with expertise in STEM curriculum and college prep for students,” said Nancy Hendricks, chairwoman of the Londonderry School Board. “Having worked with him, Scott and Nate share similar core beliefs, but Scott’s style is different enough as to sufficiently challenge our teachers and staff to continue to grow and succeed on behalf of our students.”

Board members recognized Laliberte’s two year tenure in Londonderry surpasses any formal “interview” needed for the position. Members also point out the promotion from within will save taxpayer funds, and it will ensure a smooth transition between superintendents. Laliberte will replace Nate Greenberg, who served as the district’s top educator since 2000.

“Scott brings a high degree of creativity and energy to this position and I know he will do an outstanding job for the students and families of Londonderry,” said Greenberg. “Working closely with him each day, I have seen an unparalleled work ethic, a deliberate but decisive approach to challenges, and a cool head during crisis. In addition, Scott has extensive experience in curriculum development which will serve our community and our students well into the future.”

Laliberte also brings regional experience to the position. He currently serves as the NH representative to the New England Regional Council of College Board, he serves on the SNHU Academic Advisory Board, and the SERESC STEM Advisory Board. Laliberte told board members he recognizes the positive benefits of a smooth transition of administrative leadership, and promises to build on the successes of the school district.

“The Londonderry School District is a terrific example of a community that has truly invested in outstanding educational opportunities to its students, and I will work to build on that success by working to boost quality outcomes while being a good steward of the funds given to the district by the taxpayers of this community,” said Laliberte.

Laliberte will take over as Superintendent on July 1, 2017. A transition plan is already in place for the school district. A search will soon be conducted for a new assistant superintendent to fill the upcoming vacancy.
