Local Londonderry Jiu Jitsu Competitor Wins in Connecticut

The Good Fight Connecticut Sub-Only Classic submission only jiu jitsu tournament.

Ed Tapia of Londonderry competed at The Good Fight Connecticut Sub-Only Classic submission only Jiu Jitsu tournament on November 17, 2018 at Connecticut Sports Center 21 S. Bradley Rd. Woodbridge, CT 06525. 1st Place winners qualify to compete at Sub-Only Worlds free of charge. The tournament director offered Ed Tapia a choice of divisions, two matches in the blue belt, middle weight division or one match with a blue belt, heavy weight. Turns out there was a competitor at 226 lbs that did not have an opponent in his age group and weight class. Mr. Tapia, who usually competes at middle weight in the Good Fight tournaments, chose to compete against the heavy weight, one match in the Gi and another in NoGi. Having only one match per division made them no time limit rounds. Mr. Tapia won the Gi match in about 42 minutes and he also went on to win the NoGi match in 17 minutes. Ed Tapia now qualifies for the World Championship at Elizabethtown College (Thompson Gym), 1 Alpha Dr. Elizabethtown, PA 17022 on December 15, 2018.

Ed Tapia trains Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Woo Kickboxing Academy of Londonderry and BTT Boston.
