BRENTWOOD, NH — A Rockingham County Superior Court grand jury has indicted a Londonderry man on charges stating he injured a man in a hit-and-run accident, assaulted a state trooper and tried to take the trooper's firearm from his holster. Raymond E Faucher III, 33, of Londonderry, was indicted this month on three felony charges and one misdemeanor charge that carries an enhanced penalty. The charges stem from a vehicle accident that occurred in Londonderry this spring.

According to the indictments, Faucher was driving a vehicle erratically on March 23, placing other drivers in danger of serious injury. He was then involved in an accident, in which another man was injured, but he did not stop to exchange information with the other driver or report the incident to police. The grand jury indicted Faucher on felony conduct after an accident and reckless conduct charges in connection with the vehicle collision.

Faucher is also charged with offenses against the New Hampshire State Police. According to the grand jury indictments, Faucher attempted to take a firearm from a state trooper's holster while the trooper was arresting Faucher. He also struck the trooper with a closed fist, according to the grand jury that indicted him.

In connection with his interactions with the state trooper, Faucher was indicted on felony taking a firearm from a law enforcement officer charge, in addition to a Class A misdemeanor simple assault charge for striking the officer. The simple assault charge carries an enhanced penalty if Faucher is convicted, due to the victim being a law enforcement officer.

The enhanced simple assault charge carries a maximum possible sentence of 2 to 5 years in prison if convicted. The other three charges are Class B felonies, each carrying a maximum possible sentence of 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison if Faucher is convicted.
