NH State Trooper Struck By 16-Year-Old Driver Who Loses Control

Salem, NH teen loses control on 93 South in Londonderry and crashes into NH State Trooper sending Trooper to the hospital

LONDONDERRY, NH — On October 30, 2020, at approximately 11:18 am, Trooper Doug Bailey of New Hampshire State Police Troop B, was investigating a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 93 southbound in Londonderry.

Trooper Bailey was parked in the breakdown lane behind the vehicle involved in the crash in a fully marked State Police Cruiser with the emergency lights activated when a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up Truck being driven by Betsy Jane Stanley, age 16, of Salem, NH spun out of control and crashed into the rear of his cruiser.

Trooper Bailey’s cruiser then spun off the side of Interstate 93, throwing Trooper Bailey who was in the process of exiting his cruiser.

Trooper Bailey was transported to the Parkland Medical Center where he was treated for minor injury.

No one else was injured in either crash.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the Londonderry Fire Department and NH Department of Transportation.

Preliminary investigation shows that the operator was traveling too fast for the existing weather conditions.
