Providence Man Chased By Police, Found By K-9 After Vehicle Crash

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police observed a driver of a vehicle allegedly commit several traffic violations in the area of Maple and Bridge Streets on Thursday.

The officers activated their lights and siren at which point police say the driver accelerated. Officers pursued the vehicle a short distance and the vehicle reached 75 mph according to police. The driver eluded the police and got onto Interstate 93 when the officers called off the pursuit for safety reasons.

A short time later, police located a Dodge sedan matching the description of the vehicle they had been attempting to stop. The vehicle was located near the Wellington Road off-ramp from I-93. The car had crashed into trees and when the vehicle was checked it was unoccupied.

Manchester police utilized a K-9 to search the area and track from the vehicle.

Steven Blais, 32 ,of Providence, RI, was located hiding in the woods, according to police. Blais was taken into custody by officers and arrested on possession of a controlled drug, acts prohibited-possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, disobeying a police officer, conduct after an accident, and reckless operation as well as several traffic violations.
