SUV Crashes Into Two Dump Trucks Trapping 22 Year-Old Driver

Jaws of life were used to remove a victim who was unresponsive and appears to have life-threatening injuries. No other people were injured.

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester fire, police and AMR ambulance responded to an accident with entrapment on Londonderry Turnpike at the Route 101 East off-ramp
on Thursday.

When units arrived at the scene just after 2:00 a.m. they found a Ford Escape with heavy damage, and the driver trapped inside. The vehicle had struck two unoccupied dump trucks working on a paving project in the area.

Manchester fire used the Jaws of Life to remove parts of the vehicle so they could access the victim in the SUV. A Trauma alert was activated for the Elliot Hospital and police say the 22-year-old male victim the only occupant was unresponsive and appeared to have life-threatening injuries. It is unknown the current medical condition of the person.

Due to the serious nature of the crash, and that commercial vehicles were involved New Hampshire State Police Troop G units responded to the scene.

The exit 1 Eastbound off-ramp was closed to traffic, and travel on Londonderry Turnpike was restricted to one lane for several hours as investigators worked at the scene.

Initial information at the scene indicated the two dump trucks were traveling South on Londonderry Turnpike. It appears the SUV struck the rear dump truck and then struck the rear of the dump truck in front.
