5 Things To Know In Merrimack This Week: Ribfest, Police Patrols

Ribfest and the start of the weekly farmers' market are among the top five things to look forward to in Merrimack this week.

MERRIMACK, NH — Here are the top five things to know in Merrimack for the upcoming week.

  1. This is the last full week of school in the Merrimack School District. Although summer vacation is almost here, drivers should be aware that police are doing special patrols and paying extra attention to vehicles that illegally pass school buses. Some of the buses have cameras on the stop arm to catch the license plates of violating drivers. The last day of school is June 18.
  2. Starting Monday, there is a public comment period on a proposed grant to help remove the PFAS chemicals from two Merrimack wells. The town would need to match $405,000 as part of the grant. The comment period will last until July 10.
  3. The Merrimack Farmers Market starts this Wednesday and will continue each week through Oct. 10, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 526 Daniel Webster Highway at Vault Storage. Goods from many local farms and vendors are featured. For more information email merrimackfarmersmarket@gmail.com.
  4. The Great American Ribfest and Food Truck Festival will take place this Friday through Sunday at the Budweiser Brewery at 221 Daniel Webster Highway. There will be great food, live music, kids' activities and great beer — all to support local charities. It's being presented by the Merrimack Rotary. More info at www.greatamericanribfest.com.
  5. This Saturday the Merrimack Rotary Club is helping Queen City Rotary in building a structure for the kids outside the Webster House in Manchester. They are looking for some volunteers from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Phase 2 of the project will take place June 22.
