5 Things To Know In Merrimack This Week: Traffic Delays, Taxes
Road closure, bridge reconstruction and upcoming property tax deadline are among things to be aware of in Merrimack this week.

MERRIMACK, NH — Bridge reconstruction and other roadwork are expected to hold up traffic in Merrimack this week. This is also a good time to pay property taxes, for residents who have not done so already. Here are the top five things to know in Merrimack this week.
- Reconstruction of the red-listed Bedford Road bridge is moving forward. On Monday, the contractor is expected to mobilize the crane and other equipment onto the site as workers begin building a detour road in preparation for the bridge's replacement. There will be alternating one-way traffic in the area controlled by a traffic signal starting at 7 a.m. Monday. Drivers are asked to be cautious. Delays are expected.
- A road closure is being planned on East Chamberlain Road starting Monday. The road will be closed from Daniel Webster Highway to the property of 8 Chamberlain Road, as the roadway and utilities on that road are being reconstructed. Town officials expect the project to be completed, and the road to reopen, by the start of the new school year, according to Merrimack Community Development Department.
- Reminder that tax bills are due on Monday, July 1. This bill, which was mailed out at the end of May, is based on half of last year's total tax. Those who don't pay the tax bill by deadline will have to pay 12-percent interest.
- If you've ever considered becoming a school bus driver, this is a good time to give it a shot. Merrimack's Student Transportation of America is offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for new hires in its search for qualified, safe candidates to transport the students of the Merrimack School District. In light of a regional shortage of school bus drivers, the bus company is offering extra incentives. Plus, parent drivers will be able to bring their children on the bus. Free training provided.
- The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce encourages residents to attend the "Best of NH Party" this Thursday at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, located at 1 Line Dr. in Manchester. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission price includes all-you-can-eat food, beer, wine, and cocktails, as well as live entertainment and a fireworks show.
