5 Things To Know In Merrimack This Week: Water Rates, Job Fair

MERRIMACK, NH — This week students are celebrating the last day of school, and the Village District will take up the water rate increase. Here are the top five things to know in Merrimack for the upcoming week.

  1. It's official. The last day of school in the Merrimack School District is Tuesday. It will be a half-day. Dismissal is as follows: 11:05 a.m. at the middle school, 11:15 a.m. at the high school, noon at the elementary schools.
  2. The Merrimack water rate is about to increase by 19 percent. Residents will be able to speak on the proposed rate increase during a public hearing Monday. The new rate would take effect July 1. The hearing is at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Merrimack Village District office, at 2 Greens Pond Road.
  3. The Merrimack Planning Board will meet this Tuesday and review plans for a 125-foot-tall Verizon Wireless tower to be located on Wilson Road, a residential zone.
  4. The Merrimack summer concert series starts this week. Concerts will take place every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Griffin Park. The kick-off event, though, is Wednesday at the Merrimack Public Library. It will be a children’s concert featuring Toe Jam Puppet Band. The full schedule can be found on the Parks and Rec website.
  5. Need a new job? New Hampshire Employment Security is hosting a job fair this Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 650 Hanover St., Manchester.
