With Thanksgiving arriving this Thursday to kick off the holiday season the Merrimack Fire Department wants you to have a safe and happy holiday.
With that in mind they are reminding residents of some important fire safety tips:
- Do not leave cooking unattended.
- Use outdoor deep fryers according to manufacturer's instructions.
- NEVER use water on a grease fire or carry a burning pan!
- Keep children away from all cooking areas.
- Turn pot handles in.
- Use the lid to cover the burning pan, turn the heat off.
- NEVER open the oven door during an oven fire!
- Keep the oven door closed and turn the heat off.
- Always Call 911 in the event of a fire emergency no matter how small you think it is.
