Amherst Police Announce Halloween Road Closures
Amherst Village will be closed with the exception of Boston Post Road as Halloween trick-or-treating is set to go on as scheduled Thursday.

AMHERST, NH —While communities throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire debate whether to postpone Halloween trick-or-treating due to expected rain Thursday night, Amherst is calling "game on" with the holiday tradition. The town sent a reminder to residents on Wednesday that Amherst Village Roads will be closed from 6 to 8 p.m. for trick-or-treating.
The format is the same to the town's Fourth of July road closures with the exception of Boston Post Road, which will remain open due to access to substantial parking availability at the Wilkins School.
Whether or not to go ahead with Halloween in the rain has been a hot topic in the Granite State this week with Nashua among the first to postpone on Tuesday, and Merrimack first saying on Tuesday it intended to go ahead with its "Trick or Treat" before ultimately deciding to postpone on Wednesday to Saturday night.
