Help Still Needed in Finding Missing Dog

Morning news and notes for Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Help needed finding Beck. The owners of a missing male Shetland sheepdog are hoping someone has seen their 6-year-old four-legged friend. Beck, the 25-pound brown and white pup, went missing on Monday, Nov. 25 and was last seen heading into the woods near the Merrimack Transfer Station not far from the Bedford town line. Beck was recently adopted and doesn't know the area well. If you see him, please call one of the numbers in the poster above.

Mark your calendar. Partake of some seasonal sweets at the Merrimack Public Library. Visit the Lowell Room to enjoy its refurbished atmosphere and some holiday cookies on Monday, Dec. 16. Consider it a way for staff and the trustees to say "Happy Holidays" to its patrons.

Be Kind. Just four days from today is the one year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn. On Monday, the families of several of the shooting victims released a public statement and introduced a new website honoring the victims, MySandyHookFamily.org where each family has a say over the information they want to share, as each family continues to handle the tragedy differently. Among the information on the site is a request that in honor of the victims lost on Dec. 14, 2012, people "consider performing an act of kindness or volunteering with a charitable organization in your local community. In this way, we hope that some small measure of good may be returned to the world."

Weather watch. There could be more snow on the way today, according to the National Weather Service. There is a slight chance of snow between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 19.
