Man Charged in Domestic Assault

Merrimack police arrested a local man on charges of simple assault/domestic violence and obstructing the report of a crime June 9.

Police said John Lastowka, 71, was charged after officers responded to a home on Amherst Road for the report of a domestic dispute.

Lastowka was charged for allegedly throwing another household member to the ground and prohibiting the person to call for help, police said.

He was placed on $3,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court in Merrimack to answer to the charges, according to Merrimack police.
