Man Killed In Car Crash On Everett Turnpike In Merrimack

MERRIMACK, NH — A 23-year-old man from Merrimack was killed in a vehicle accident Tuesday on the F.E. Everett Turnpike. According to the State Police, the accident occurred as the driver was switching lanes going south. The Subaru Crosstrek struck another vehicle, the driver of which was not injured, police say.

The accident was reported at approximately 5:36 p.m. Tuesday, around mile marker 15.6 on the Everett Turnpike south. The 23-year-old was driving at a high rate of speed in the left lane, and then attempted to switch to the right lane. According to the State Police, witnesses say that the vehicle then slid sideways from the right lane back into the left lane, striking a Toyota Camry in the area of its rear bumper.

Witnesses stated that the Subaru then went off the right side of the roadway on two wheels, while traveling down a grass embankment, according to the State Police. It then struck several trees.

The 23-year-old driver of the Subaru was transported from the scene to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Nashua with life-threatening injuries. He died of his injuries shortly after arriving to the hospital, according to police.

The driver of the Toyota was a 41-year-old man from Lowell, Massachusetts. Police say he was not injured in the crash.

The Merrimack Fire Department shut down the right portion of the highway during the rescue operation. The lane remained closed for the whole duration of the State Police investigation on scene.
