Merrimack Brushfire Spreads Quickly Due To Dry Conditions
Brushfire at the end of Depot Street spreads to 1-acre after being accidentally started. Nashua fire respond mutual aid for station coverage
MERRIMACK, NH - Merrimack Fire Rescue responded to a call for a brush fire at the end of Depot Street Saturday afternoon.
On arrival, they had a large area of brush burning around the railroad tracks and down the embankment to the Merrimack River,
Fire crews were able to utilize portable pumps for water supply from the river, and hydrants located near an industrial building.

Nashua Fire was called to provide station coverage while Merrimack firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. The fire spread to about 1-acre of the wooded area before it was extinguished.
It appears a homeless person living in the area was cooking and the fire was started accidentally. The fire was extinguished after firefighters worked for about 1.5 hours.

New Hampshire had several brush fires during the week caused by extremely dry conditions.
