Merrimack Council Seeking Replacement After Flood Resigns

The Merrimack Town Council is seeking a replacement for Councilor Jackie Flood, who unexpectedly resigned last week.

MERRIMACK, NH - The Merrimack Town Council is seeking a replacement for Councilor Jackie Flood, who unexpectedly resigned last week, citing "family responsibilities." According to the Union Leader, Flood served on the council from 2010 to 2013 and was in the middle of her second term, which started in 2016.

Flood said she will miss council discussions and the devoted town staff who help prepare for the best outcomes for Merrimack.

“I found many interesting issues — some serious, others complex — all of them worthy of consideration and all treated with attention by my fellow councilors,” said Flood. “ … I do want to say that nothing is terribly serious, it is just that I am taking my time and focus — I don’t want anybody to worry.”

Flood will remain on the ballot for the election on Apr. 10 since it was too late for the Secretary of State’s Office to change the form.

The Town Council is seeking candidates interested in filling Flood’s vacant position until the next election in April 2019. Applicants are urged to send a resume and letter of interest by April 27 to: Town of Merrimack, Attn: Town Council Vacancy, 6 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, N.H. 03054.
