Merrimack Driver Arrested After Striking Tree

A 42-year-old Merrimack man was charged with heroin possession after a vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree, police say.

MERRIMACK, NH — Police have arrested a Merrimack driver after a vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree Wednesday. Chad Michael Arsenault, 42, of Merrimack, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and possession of heroin. The accident occurred around 5:48 a.m. in the area of McQuestion Road and Merrymeeting Drive.

According to the Merrimack police, Arsenault showed signs of impairment after officers responded to the crash. Heroin was discovered when police were conducting an inventory of the vehicle he was driving, after Arsenault's arrest on the impaired driving charge.

Arsenault has been released on personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment on July 23 at Merrimack Circuit Court.
