Merrimack Man Accused Of Passing False Info To Obtain Firearm
Richard Schwartz attempted to buy a firearm in August 2020 and was arrested on April 3 while driving in town on a warrant.

MERRIMACK, NH — A Merrimack man is facing a false information charge after being accused of not sharing accurate information when attempting a purchase a firearm.
In mid-August 2020, police in town were notified that Richard Schwartz, 43, of Maidstone Drive in Merrimack, attempted to purchase a firearm at a local business. When trying to purchase the firearm, he filled out information that was filed with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Authorities accused the information of being false, according to a report.
Police performed a "thorough investigation" of the allegation and then, filed an arrest warrant against Schwartz, according to Sgt. Michael Lambert.

On April 3, Schwartz was seen in the area of McQuestion Road and Turkey Hill Road, and an officer ran a check on the vehicle. The officer found the active warrant, stopped the vehicle, confirmed Schwartz was driving, and arrested him, with incident.
After being driven to police headquarters and processed, Schwartz was released on personal recognizance and is due in Merrimack District Court on May 11.

According to superior court records, Schwartz has cases dating back to the late-1990s including acts prohibited; controlled drug act charges from February 1997 which led to a probation violation and amended sentence in April 1999, and another drug charge which he pleaded guilty to in December 1997. Schwartz also pleaded guilty to two felony criminal mischief charges out of Nashua in August 2007.
