Merrimack Man Arrested After Police Standoff
A Merrimack man has been arrested on several felonies after a standoff with police involving a firearm on Baboosic Lake Road Thursday night.
MERRIMACK, NH — A Merrimack man has been arrested after a standoff with police Thursday night on Baboosic Lake Road. Police say Mark H. Uhlman, 54, of Merrimack, threatened police during negotiations with the Nashua SWAT team and fired a rifle five times during the standoff. He is charged with three counts of criminal threatening and five counts of reckless conduct.
Merrimack police responded to the Baboosic Lake Road home around 8 p.m. Thursday after getting a report of a domestic disturbance. Police say that Uhlman reportedly threatened to shoot a household member with a rifle. Police sent out an alert to the public at the time, warning residents to keep away from the area of Baboosic Lake Road and Shady Lane, and the road was closed to traffic.
Due to the nature of the incident, Merrimack police requested the Nashua SWAT team, which negotiated over the phone with Uhlman to surrender himself peacefully. According to police, Uhlman was uncooperative and highly agitated. Police say on two occasions he made officers aware he had an AR-15 rifle and would shoot them and come out "guns blazing."
