Merrimack Military Contractor Celebrates Milestone

Merrimack's Elbit Systems of America produced its 500th AVS-11 helmet display system for U.S. Navy aviators.

MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack military contractor Elbit Systems of America on Tuesday celebrated the production of its 500th helmet display system for U.S. Navy aviators. The AVS-11 Night Vision Cueing and Display system was first used in combat in 2014 by fighter jet pilots and "yielded major increases in weapon targeting effectiveness," the company said. The system provides pilots with weapons and sensors symbols at night.

"The system’s high resolution night vision capability coupled with off-axis sensor/weapon cueing is characterized by our warfighters as a 'game changer' in ongoing combat operations," the company added.

The company on Tuesday hosted a ceremony with U.S. Navy officials, pilots and the Taylor Caswell, commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs.
