Merrimack Police: Local Man Arrested for 2nd Offense OUI

A local man was arrested for driving under the influence for the second time over thee weekend in Merrimack.

MERRIMACK, NH - A local man was arrested for driving under the influence for the second time over thee weekend in Merrimack.

According to Merrimack Police, Scott Jowders Jr., 23, of 60 Cota Road, Merrimack NH was charged with OUIL 2nd offense, 2 Counts of Conduct after an accident on Cota Road on Apr. 29.

According to police, officers responded a report of an accident around 2:20 a.m. Police said a vehicle had driven off the road, striking a mailbox then driving away.

Police said officers responded to the area and located a Red Volkswagen Golf stopped at the intersection of Iris Drive and Turkey Hill Road with heavy front end damage. Officers made contact with the operator, identified as Jowders Jr., who showed signs of intoxication.

After a brief investigation, Jowders was arrested for OUIL and was transported to the Merrimack Police Department where he was processed on the charges. He was later released on $2,500.00 Personal Recognizance bail.

Police said officers were able to match car parts that were located at two separate properties which were damaged, a mailbox and front lawn, to Jowders vehicle. Jowders was also charged with 2 counts of Conduct after an Accident.

A license check was done on Jowders, who had a previous OUIL in 2017.
