Merrimack Postpones Halloween 2017

​Breaking: Power outages and electrical wire dangers cause town and police to postpone Tuesday's trick-or-treating.

MERRIMACK, NH — Trick-or-treating in Merrimack has been postponed until Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017. Trick-or-treating will take place between 6 and 8 p.m., according to a press statement from Lt. Brian Levesque of the Merrimack Police Department.

“The town of Merrimack sustained numerous power outages, downed electrical wires, and fallen trees from the recent storm,” he noted. “We want to ensure that everyone has a safe time trick or treating.”

As of 3 p.m. on Oct. 30, 2017, about 215,000 Granite Staters were without power with utility companies warning that their restoration efforts will be a “multi-day” effort. According to Eversource, more than 3,600 customers in Merrimack are still without power, about one-third of the town's customers.
