Merrimack Teacher Named Semi-Finalist for NH Teacher of the Year
A Merrimack elementary school teacher is in the running for the best teacher in New Hampshire.
MERRIMACK, N.H. - A Merrimack elementary school teacher is in the running for the best teacher in New Hampshire. According to the Nashua Telegraph, Alice Donahoe, a fourth grade teacher at James Mastricola Elementary School has been chosen as one of eight semi-finalists for New Hampshire Teacher of the Year.
Officials from the DOE will visit her school and classroom at the end of the month and conduct interviews with teachers, students and parents.
“I’m excited and nervous,” Donahoe said, “what a great compliment.”

During the visit, she said she hopes to convey her love of teaching through her interactions with students in the classroom.
“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher … there was never a doubt in my mind,”she said.

Her movie themed classroom (complete with a marquee and red carpet) is just one of the many ways Donahoe treats her 26 students like movie stars.
