Road Race To Close Off Merrimack Road

Traffic delays are expected this weekend in Merrimack, as a portion of Daniel Webster Highway will be closed to traffic due to a road race.

MERRIMACK, NH — A portion of Daniel Webster Highway will be closed to traffic on Sunday due to a road race. The race is taking place Sunday morning as part of the all-weekend Great American Ribfest taking place this weekend at the Budweiser Brewery. Those wishing to partake in the five-mile race may still register.

According to town officials, there will be rolling road closures on Daniel Webster Highway starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, between the Budweiser facility and Island Drive. Drivers should expect delays if they are traveling through the area. They are asked to drive with caution and watch out for runners in the road.

The Ribfest 5-Miler will start at the brewery and head north up Daniel Webster Highway, make a slight right onto D.W. Drive and turn right onto Island Drive, before turning back to the highway and onto Pondview Drive, before returning to the brewery for the post-race event.

After the race, runners will be treated with complimentary beer, hydrating drinks, pizza and yogurt donated by businesses. The family-friendly event will also feature music and other entertainment.

The five-mile race starts at 9 a.m. and runners may still register online. Awards will be given to top 50 finishers. The Great American Ribfest is also featuring a 100-yard Kids Fun Run starting at 8:15 a.m.

Thousands of people are expected to attend this weekend's Ribfest, which began Friday. The event continues from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. In celebration of Fathers' Day, Ribfest will offer free admission to fathers after 4 p.m. Sunday.
