Pick-Up Truck Crashes Through Merrimack Liquor Store
An elderly driver hit the gas instead of the brake at the Dobson Way liquor store. The store was heavily damaged but no one was injured.
MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack fire and police responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the NH State Liquor Store on Dobson Way on Thursday.
When firefighters arrived they located a pick-up truck that had driven through the front door of the store around 10:45 a.m. The store which was open at the time there we no customers in the store at the time and employees in the store who were not injured in the incident.
The 78-year-old male driver was assisted from the truck and medically evaluated. The driver refused transport to a hospital.

Upon investigating the matter, it was learned that the driver had arrived at the store and was parking his truck in a space in front of the entrance doors. While parking, his foot mistakenly hit the accelerator, and when the truck began to move forward, he continued to press the accelerator instead of the brake.
The vehicle sustained minor damage and there was significant damage to the product and shelving inside the store. The building was later inspected for structural damage and none was found.
