2 Killed During Head-On Crash On Everett Turnpike In Merrimack

Update: 2 vehicles were damaged during the crash with one catching on fire. Troopers are investigating.

MERRIMACK, NH — Several calls came in to 911 for a two-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday. The accident location was given as Mile Marker 16.6 which is about a mile south of the Bedford Toll Plaza.

While units were responding they were advised there were two people trapped in vehicles, and one of the vehicles was on fire. The first Merrimack police officer who arrived at the scene said that he could not access the victim due to the intense fire.

Bedford and Merrimack firefighters responded with apparatus and ambulances. It was immediately determined neither driver survived the accident.

New Hampshire State Police requested the accident reconstruction team and the medical examiner. According to Lt. Bryan Trask of Troop B, the crash involved a 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck and a 2016 Audi Q5.

"Troopers from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team are processing the scene in order to determine exactly how the crash occurred," he said.

At about 2:15 a.m., two hearses were seen leaving the accident scene.

The highway remained shut down for around two hours as the investigation is underway by New Hampshire State Police.

Three people have died on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack in less than a week. On Saturday a 17-year-old Nashua boy died in a crash at Exit 10.
