This Week In Merrimack: Zoning Hearing, Night Out, Bridge Work

Public hearing on zoning, lifeguard certification signups and fun games with police are among top 5 things happening in Merrimack this week.

MERRIMACK, NH — This week, Merrimack residents are invited to a public hearing, and some fun activities are in store during the annual National Night Out. And if you've ever wanted to become a lifeguard, now is your chance to sign up. Here are the top five things to know in Merrimack this week.

  1. A public hearing on the town's zoning overhaul is happening Tuesday. It's a chance to tell the Planning Board any concerns or suggestions regarding the new townwide regulations. Development at the Premium Outlets will also be discussed.
  2. For those not going to the public hearing, don't miss this Tuesday's National Night Out! Happening Tuesday evening, there will be a softball game between police and Merrimack High School, lots of activities and a late movie in the park. The event is free.
  3. Construction is still ongoing at the Bedford Road bridge. This week, removal of the old bridge is scheduled to begin. Traffic delays will likely continue, so seek detours and use caution if you're driving through the area.
  4. This Wednesday, Merrimack's summer concert series will feature Cold Spring Harbor: Bill Joel Tribute Band. Boy Scouts will sell drinks and baked goods. Happening 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Abbie Griffin Park.
  5. There is still time to sign up for the Pathways to Leadership program being hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department. The program offers optional lifeguard training, resume building, interview practice, babysitting skills, financial skills and more. It's geared toward kids 13 to 15 years old. The program starts next week. Also, separate lifeguard training will take place starting Aug. 19, for teens and adults 15 years old and older. Sign-ups are due by this week.
